The Woodcock-Muñoz Foundation (WMF) has embarked on a program of professional outreach and collaboration with psychologists and assessment professionals in Cuba. One goal of the Woodcock-Muñoz Foundation is to promote the development of contemporary cognitive ability assessment practices among psychologists in countries that have limited access to modern assessment methodology. Another is to provide instructional materials support to university assessment training programs. Operating under a license from the United States Department of the Treasury, Office for Foreign Assets Control, the WMF was granted permission to travel to Cuba for professional and academic purposes. This unprecedented professional exchange between the WMF and the Cátedra de Estudios sobre Discapacidad (Center of Disability Studies), the Department of Psychology of the University of Havana, has resulted in a unique opportunity for the implementation of Foundation objectives and goals in Cuba. The affiliation between WMF and the Cuban university and its clinic has developed into the Woodcock-Muñoz Foundation Cuba Outreach Project. Primary project personnel include Fredrick A. Schrank, WMF Executive Director, with the assistance of project consultants Melissa Marsh, MA, CAGS, and Patricio Romero, PsyD. Ms. Marsh and Dr. Romero are practicing school psychologists in the United States who have contributed their time and expertise to this effort. The association between the Foundation and the Cuban psychologists will likely develop in phases. This web page will contain periodic postings about each project phase.
